Bleik Arctic Wildlife Safari
– Whales & Puffins
Join a small-group RIB safari from Bleik and experience Arctic wildlife up close. Combine whale watching in the deep waters off Vesterålen with puffins and seabirds along the dramatic coastline.
Set out from the small coastal village of Bleik on a 3-hour Arctic wildlife safari by RIB, exploring one of Norway’s most wildlife-rich ocean areas.
This experience combines whale watching in the deep waters of the Bleik Canyon with close encounters with puffins and seabirds along the coast. The area is known for its rich marine life, and sightings may include sperm whales, seabirds, and other wildlife depending on the day and conditions.
Travelling in a small group of maximum 12 guests, you’ll get closer to nature and the surroundings than on larger vessels. Your guide will share knowledge about the whales, birdlife, and the unique ecosystem of Vesterålen, while still allowing time to simply observe and take in the experience.
As you move between open ocean and coastal areas, you’ll experience the contrast between deep-sea wildlife and vibrant bird cliffs, all set against the raw Arctic landscape.
This is a nature-based experience focused on respectful wildlife encounters in their natural habitat.

Tour information
Your experience starts at Bleik harbour, where you will meet your guide and get equipped with a floating suit, life vest, and goggles. Before departure, there will be a short safety briefing and introduction to the tour.
You will then head out by RIB towards the deep waters offshore, where the Bleik Canyon creates ideal conditions for whale watching. The guide will actively search for whales and share knowledge about the species, behaviour, and the marine ecosystem in the area.
During the tour, there will also be time to simply observe and take in the surroundings — the open ocean, fresh Arctic air, and the unique feeling of being close to wildlife in its natural habitat.
After spending time offshore, the tour continues along the coastline, where you will experience puffins and seabirds in their natural environment. Here, you will get a different perspective of the wildlife, often with close views as the birds rest on the water or move between the cliffs and the sea.
