OUR STORY · TROMSØ · NORTHERN NORWAY

Arctic Adventure Tours grew from a life already deeply rooted in the North.

For Hege and Per-Thore, dogs, wilderness, expeditions and life outdoors came long before the company.
Over time, that way of living became something they wanted to share with others
— not as a polished version of the Arctic, but as they knew it themselves.

What began in 1999 has grown into a company built around the same things that mattered from the start:
care for the dogs, respect for nature, strong people, real knowledge and experiences that feel personal.

.

It started a long time ago -
built brick by brick

For Hege and Per-Thore - their hearts and home are the Arctic North. It started with passion, love to a truly dedicated Arctic lifestyle.

Both Hege and Per-Thore were born and raised in Northern Norway, where the mountains, the sea, the weather and the changing seasons are part of everyday life. Long trips into the mountains, nights spent outdoors, hunting, fishing and travelling through demanding conditions were never just hobbies — they were simply the life they loved.

They were drawn to the freedom of being outside, to the simplicity of life close to nature, and to the feeling of moving through a landscape that always asks you to pay attention.

At some point, the hunting dog was replaced by a husky.

That change quietly marked the beginning of something new and something bigger than they could ever dream of.

When Hege and PT later found the farm on Kvaløya, they found the place where that life could grow. They put down roots, built the kennel and slowly surrounded themselves with more dogs. Winter journeys became longer, the bond with the dogs stronger, and dog sledding became part of the rhythm of everyday life.

From there - Arctic Adventure Tours began to take shape.

They started bringing guests out into the same landscapes they loved themselves — sharing the cold, the silence, the dogs, the weather and the feeling of being truly present in the Arctic.

More than 25 years later, much has changed. The company has grown, new experiences have become part of the story, and the family now includes children and grandchildren.

But the heart of it remains the same: a deep connection to the North, respect for animals and nature, trust in good people, and a belief that the best experiences come from sharing something you genuinely love.

NATURE BASED · FAMILY RUN · 25 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

Built to mean more

Arctic Adventure Tours has grown over the years — from something small and personal, to a more established and professional company.

But for Hege and PT, growth has never only been about becoming bigger.

It has been about becoming better.

Better for the guests who trust us with their time in the Arctic. Better for the people who choose to work here. Better for the dogs in our care. And better in the way we move through the landscapes and wildlife we depend on.

As the company has developed, so has the responsibility that comes with it.

Hege and PT want Arctic Adventure Tours to be a safe, strong and meaningful place to work — somewhere people are trusted, challenged and given room to grow. A workplace where experience is shared, where good judgement matters, and where people feel that the work they do has real value.

The same thinking applies to the experiences we create.

They should be well run, personal and memorable, but also grounded in respect — for the animals, for nature, for the team and for the places we are fortunate enough to operate in.

What started as a way of sharing a life they loved has become something larger than Hege and PT themselves.

A company. A team. A culture. And a place where people, animals and Arctic experiences are meant to be cared for properly.

And all of this is....
