We hosted two fantastic student groups from Loughborough University on this year's dog sledding expeditions!
It was a blast and in the process they raised alot of money for charity!
From sledding through beautiful landscapes to camp fires and saunas in the wild, we had it all!
It's a challenge but OH so worth it 😍

It is that time of year again!

Now the season is over, we are exploring the options of re-homing some of our wonderful sled dogs!

Whilst we are happy to keep everyone, we are also open to the possibility of adoption if the right candidate comes along. We have previously been super successful in finding our dogs their next best friend, both within Norway and internationally, and this is something we want to continue with 💕

Most of the dogs that we would consider are senior (8+) however occasionally there are youngsters that we feel would be better suited to the sofa.

All of our dogs are Alaskan Huskies, by nature they are friendly and sociable, and have been raised with a great deal of interaction with people and others dogs.
Their welfare is our upmost priority and as they have their own personalities, all cases are considered on an individual basis to ensure the perfect match.

All of our dogs are vaccinated, dewormed and come with a passport.

The puppy whisperer. 🐶

Siim is orginally from Estonia but grew up in Sweden. He came to us in 2019, it was his first job with sled dogs but having worked in all sorts of adventure tourism across the globe, he was already seasoned in guiding.
From being a glacier guide in Alaska to a dive instructor in Thailand, he has lots of experience and it is safe to say the guests are safe in his hands.

Siim loves the wilderness and non conformity! He always has a handle on what's happening in the kennel, knows the dogs inside out and has the puppies under control. He is the puppy whisperer after all.

This summer, he is swapping the sled for a paddleboard and is off to explore the fjords of southern Norway, guiding. We will miss him alot especially his special ladies, Taco and Simian 🥺😭❤️🐶
He dreams to buy a sailboat and go with the wind... but we just hope it will sail him back to us!🐕❄️☃️

The owners of AAT, PT & Hege swapped their snow boots for hiking shoes and tackled Mount Kilimanjaro.
After a few years of uncertainty, a busy season and Hege’s special birthday, they deserved a holiday … and summiting the highest mountain in Africa is what they call a break!!

Due to covid it was the FIRST since 2019 😭😱 but it was worth the wait to be out there in the wilderness again!
The team have been busy since our day tours finished - preparing, organising and fixing all the equipment needed . We travel into some very remote areas and need to be self-sufficent so there is lots to take care of.
On the trip, we sled through vast snowy landscapes, wild camp surrounded by dogs and gather water from ice holes. What more could you want? 🐾

We thought it was about time to introduce the boys as we are all about equality here...

Lad is one of our guides. He is from the Czech Republic and first came to AAT with workaway in 2018, it was only a matter of weeks before we asked him to stay...

Lad loves expeditions, sailing and all things wilderness 😍
In 2019 he traversed the length of frozen Lake Baikal in Russia, self supported. He covered approximately 700km in 16 days over the ice. He has also summited Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe and outside of work you will find him backcountry skiing in the Norwegian mountains.

His adventurous hobbies and of course love of dogs means he loves being out of the trails 🐾 he is pratical and a great problem solver.
In Summer, he may even be your boat driver for the Fjord trips ❤

This woman is the backbone of everything here at AAT! Hege founded this company with her husband over 20 years ago. What an adventure!!! She jokes it was a hobby gone wrong but she wouldn't have it any other way!

From raising the happiest puppies to baking every single slice of cake eaten by our guests, she really does do it all!
Everyday she is behind the scenes AND the face of the kennel. If she has a spare moment she will be off skiing, hiking or at crossfit!!! ⛷🏋‍♀️⛰

Full of energy, active and determined with a big heart, we aren't sure what we would do without her ❤

Our volunteer from Switzerland. Orginally Luana set off to explore the world 🌍 She quit her job in exchange for adventure but her plans were cut short when the pandemic hit...
However NOTHING could stop her fulfilling her dreams so this year is THE year!

After joining as a guest with us in a VERY quiet 2020, Luana wanted to learn more about our doggies, sledding and life in the North so here she is... Next up is Africa!!! 😍🗺🌍

Luana was previously working for a non profit organisation that ensures water access in less privileged areas - how amazing is that!

The amount she has taken on and learnt in such a short time shows how much passion and initiative she has in life. Hard-working, calm and full of kindness 💕A great addition to our team 👏

Meet Gabi 📸

Gabi is from Italy but has the heart of a wanderer. Her motto is work hard and explore harder...seasonal work is her thing and she can tell you some stories about her job roles around the world from cooking for royalty to adventure TV shows.

Gabi loves to explore far flung corners of the world, she spent 10 months sailing the Indian Ocean and has plans in motion to cross the Atlantic. She loves animals, they are one of her motivations to travel and that is how she found herself in this freezing winter wonderland so far from the tropical paradises she had previously enjoyed ❄🌴 💕
Now she knows paradise is having the love of a 100 dogs 🥰

This is Katharine 📸

Kat is one of our guides and captain of our #girlpower movement.
When she is not travelling the world, you can find her in our kennel cuddling all the dogs and puppies ❤🐕🐾

Originally from the UK, Kat is free spirit and found her way North many years ago. She joined us as a guest in 2016 and loved it so much that she decided to apply for the winter season in 2018. Dogs have since taken over her life! (Sorry cats 😻😹)

In summer 2020 Kat adopted one of our dogs, Dusty 🐶 her now best friend and travel companion 🐶😍💕

We can rely on her to do everything thats needed although she loves taking care of the dogs and spending time with them the most! On her days off she is notorious for missing them!
When she isn't in the dogyard or out on the trails she also helps in the office making sure our bookings are flawless 💕

Paulina is from Poland. She first came to us in 2019 for a summer season and the seed was planted.
First, it started with getting her own dog, Taco, in honour of one of our huskies but that still wasn't enough to quash the pull to work with dogs the North. 🐶🐕
Amidst the pandemic Paulina decided to quit her corporate career and move her dog and fiance up here to enjoy a different way of life! ❄

We can certainely rely on her to get things done around the kennel, especially as our meat saw expert 🪚🥩🤣 She is hands on, practical and loves all the seasons here, especially winter.

Paulina loves crossfit, winter sports and when she isn't outdoors, you can find her cooking up a storm of traditional Polish dishes and enjoying a good drink!

Who runs the world (kennel) #girls...
Sophia is our kennel manager and has been with AAT for many years!
Originally from Germany she studied Equine Science and Management and worked with horses in Iceland before finding dog sledding 🐕🛷
Now qualified in Canine Physiotherapy, she is our go to girl for the well-being of our huskies.
Sophia has competed in several dog sledding races but has now decided that team handler is more for her. Her main passion is the care and well-being of the dogs so she is her happiest changing straw and training puppies 🐶

Outside the kennel you will find her kayaking in the surrounding fjords of Tromsø 🥰

A firefighter by trade, this girl is more than capable 👩‍🚒
Ski obsessed and a fitness fanatic, she is full of energy and spent one year travelling through New Zealand, South and North America as well as parts of Europe by bicycle! ⛷🚴‍♀️
Her dream is to work in dog search and rescue and was interested to gain some hands on experience with working dogs so here she is keeping the puppies under control 💕
